Been looking for one for a while now but they all seem to be around a grand for the size I want. I received a flyer from enco last week and they had a 7X10 table top variable speed lathe on sale for $399.00. To good of a deal to pass up & I finally ordered it. Ordered it on Monday and it arrived on Wednesday! Great service. Link to the URL if you happen to need one.

Enco is a super place to deal with. Most of their stuff is really good quality, and of course they carry all the big names like Starrett and the like.

I just placed an order with them yesterday and found out what a small world it is.

I was giving my shipping address, and I got to "Winlock, that's W-i-n" and she says, "Oh I know where it is." (keep in mind Winlock is slightly bigger than a phone booth).

Turns out the lady on the phone with Enco grew up in the town I work in, and has family about 5 miles away from where I live(she was in Reno on the phone).

A small world for sure

I've got a Carba-Tec lathe from Penn State Industries (http://www.pennstateind.com/) It came in a kit with supplies to make 10 pen & pencil sets. I made enough from the pen & pencil sets the first X-mas to pay for the lathe! Now I stick to making just the Mont Blanc style pens. They sell great.

Have to agree with Nick about Enco and disagree about the size of Winlock (phone booth is much bigger). Enco has been fast friendly and courteous. Terry

Yeah, pen turning is fun. Good profit! The pen kits sell for about $6. Add the wood and epoxy, sandpaper, lacquer and maybe you're up to $10. I sell 'em for $40 or 2 for $70.

I made my Father a Mont Blanc with Snakewood (about $10 for the wood.) It was fantastic. I've got some mammoth ivory I want to try next.
