I've got a bunch of cheap productions I want to sell in order to buy some nice autos like Microtechs.

I've got a bunch of CRKTs, Kershaws, SAK, Hen & Rooster, Becker etc. to sell.

It seems like it's hard to sell cheap productions on this site. My prices are good, but I'm not getting much of a response from potential buyers.

I could always sell them on Ebay, but I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of shipping knives $30 at a time. I imagine I COULD try to sell some in LOTS, but that usually means selling them REALLY cheap.

What have you done to sell your cheap productions to get a reasonable price? I'm willing to take a hit on these, but STILL have had trouble selling. Economy?

Any ideas on how to unload a bunch of cheaper productions for an auto or two or some cash?

Ha-ha. Very funny Muther Phucher!
We've done some good trades, you and I, but I'm not THAT nice!:D

Well, I'm in the market for a cheap Kershaw...;)

I think people would buy them in the Exchange forums. Just give it a shot.

I think the problem is similar to trying to sell high-end knives: the market is more limited than for the latest mid-range knives that most knife knuts are looking for.

With high-end, you have to be very patient till the guy who collects exactly what you're selling finds a way to come up with that kind of money. With low-end, you have to be patient till someone really needs a beater :) and think about the competition -- your buddy TheBadGuy just offered to give away a cheap knife! (Tell him to buy yours so he can give away more of them! -- it's really good karma, you could tell him :p )

I think you were correct with ebay. If you start out the price reasonable, you can get rid of them all at once. The $30.00 at a time is the same thing you would face selling them anywhere. With Christmas approaching, you should see bidding pick up.

I've sold a few pieces on ebay and did alright, the secret on ebay seems to be a good description, and clear pictures, with a history, if available to educate anyone not in the know.

But ebay is a crap shoot, there are no gurantees that it will sell for what it's worth, so ya have to try and sell what people want,(let me know when ya figure out what they want).:D

Take 'em to the flea market.

Round up all your junk, build/buy at second hand/whatever a cheap display case, take a folding table, and park yourself at the flea market on a Saturday.

Nothin' wrong with that. :)

Thanks. I'm going to try the Knife Exchange again with better prices and add some photos. If that doesn't work I'll put them on Ebay and take a chance. I WILL take T. Erdelyi's advise and use very good descriptions.

I usually buy cheap knifes (have 1/2 drawer fill with this stuff, usually small CRKT, Kershaw, Buck etc. :), so I know the market. Problem with them is that shipping usually kills the deal, so I usually buy them few at a time.
(Your 2$ shipping is very reasonable :)

From the buyer position there are only one main criteria: price :). If you sell something even barely used at a price similar to e-bay it’s not likely someone will buy it (el Hobo:)

If you move to e-bay it’s more like lottery. I saw jag M4 went for 60$ and Spyderco Police went for 25$ (seller had no idea what he was selling). Usually in e-bay good description tend to give fair price.

Good luck :)

P.S I don’t think you can get good price at flea market. If average flea market knife is overprices china crap, and people are paying for looks only.

P.P.S. I both couple knifes from you before, in booth cases knifes were better than expected.

Get a table at a local gun or knife show. You have the kind of stuff that your basic hunter is looking for. Something to cut with, and not cost an arm and a leg.

Though its been mentioned, its worth repeating. I am an Ebay Powerseller, which means i sell many thousands of dollars a month on Ebay, and thus i know something about selling on Ebay. I agree 100% that a well written description is very important, even more important are the pictures. There are ways of taking pictures, of anything, that can either be flattering or not to the item. It may take a little work, but evey knife you have can be made to look better by the right picture and a good picture really sells for you on Ebay. I spend much more time than my competition taking pictures and its why i get about twice what they get. Good pictures, good description really works. Also, make sure you have the proper key words present in your title so people can find your item in a word search.
