My dad's ancient Schrade is almost out of metal on the blades, so I'm going to get him a new one for christmas.

Has to have natural hand materials. Has to be pretty small..2 inch blade or smaller. Can be up to two blades. Go ahead and post locking ones for my curiosity (if you know of any), but will be getting him a slipjoint.

60 dolla or under.

The Buck 55 is looking pretty sweet with its curved bolsters. It's a locking blade, but none too big.

A very nice knife, though I'm looking for something more along the lines of this:

Get a Queen. Some of the best fit and finish in production slipjoints. Most of them have D2 steel. For $60, you can still get stag scales. Good selection here: http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/queen/

You might want to look at the "Peanut" style knives if you want such a short blade. Heck, there's a "Mother of Pearl" Peanut at that site for just $63.

Another vote for a Queen. Some sites have models with handles of stag in the 60.00 range as Guyon noted.

Case Tiny Trapper--One or two blade versions available in a myraid or handle materials. Price are at or a little below your price range.

My favorite small gent knife is the Al Mar Osprey. Excellent small utility.

That is an elegant little knife. I'd never looked at them before. Thanks. The stag handled ones are especially nice from where I sit.

This thread should be moved to the exchange forum. I have asked the moderator to move it for you.

I have a NIB Schrade advertising knife (Publix supermarket - 1 billion) that is probably the model that you are looking for, but it has metal scales and is stamped "Publix"//"1 billion". IIRC it dates to 1974 and is complete with original plastic packaging and documentation.

You can read about the Publix Supermarket chain here:
http://www.groceteria.net/stores/publixstores.html

This knife was ordered by them to commemorate their first billion-dollar-year.

Let me know if you are interested.

Odd.... he asked for suggestions--not for forumites looking to sell. Why would you ask the entire thread be moved?

How about a vintage slipjoint? I'm a fan of Bruckmann knives from Germany. Made before WWII. Available with beautiful wood, celluloid, or horn handles. Thanks to a large warehouse find in the 1970s - 1980s, unused Bruckmann knives are quite common on eBay and prices are very reasonable - almost always less than $60.

Too bad you're set against locking knives. The Mini-Lockback from AG Russell with ATS-34 blade and sandalwood handles is right at your price.

And I can't say enough about the AG Russell SwingGuard lockback. Made in Germany with 440C steel. You'd have to sell some blood or pick up cans - they're $30 more than your limit.

Hey! Here's the perfect knife, never seen it before tonight - must be new. AG Russell Two-Blade Barlow. Carbon steel blade, made in Germany by Boker, choice of natural materials, each under $60.

Well, have fun deciding!
Best Wishes,
Bob

Yeah, actually. The queen knives look very good. AG Russel too. I want to order it from NGK....because that's just how I roll. Haven't checked on NGK's site, but they have ordered knives that weren't on their list for me before.

For instance, that Miss Army kit on their front page? That's cause I had them order it.

I'm so proud.

I'll second the Al Mar Osprey and the Queen knives. I just got a Queen Cocobolo Doctor's knife from AG Russell and I'm very impressed with it. They should have something around your price range for the blade size you want. The Al Mar knives are first class all the way around, 'nuff said.
