I'm looking for a well made hatchet for camping. I don't cut down large trees or anything, but tired of cheap garbage that doesn't last. A friend recommended the Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk, but I always have problems with that style in general. Price range up to around $100 maybe? Any help would be appreciated, it looks like I have another week of rain to decide on a new one.

For way less than $100 you could get a good deal on a vintage hatchet head and handle to rehang it on. I've been doing this over the last few weeks and it's turned out fairly good. I think I'm like $20 bucks all in on this one below.
Takes more work but you certainly get to know your tool well.

If that kind of work isn't for you, you might look at snow and neally Penobscot bay. A friend has one that I've handled and it is nice for around $60.

To clarify, you can find some nice vintage ones at flea markets or fleabay.

if you don't want to go the vintage route (which I do highly recommend). The Husqvarna Hatchet is best value out there, it sells on amazon (the 13" hatchet).

Exactly the one I am looking at, and it is half price right now. It has gotten solid reviews on some bushcraft websites as well.
