Need advice on a 3P 3season tent

So here is my needs, I do alot of camping/hiking witht he wife and dogs. I am in need of a good 3 person tent(big dogs) that is under 6lbs and under $200.00. I have a Big Agnes elkhorn 3 that is advertised at 5.5LBS but with the footprint and packed up its over 8lbs. I am curently looking at the mountain hardware Lightpath3. Anyone have any experience with that tent. I am not a ultra light nut but I usualy end up carrying most of the gear so I am looking to cut weight anywhere I can. I would like it to be free standing and have its own pole system.

I've never seen a three person/three season tent weigh less than six pounds, much less be less than $200!

One option would be to get a smaller tent and then pitch a tarp next to it for the dogs to sleep under, though that won't work in wolf country.

If you have 2 big dogs my solution is to get them pulling their weight for a change.

I retired my old black lab "Spot" from packing when he turned 12 last year, he used to carry 15 to 20lbs no problem at all, the greybeard can still go for 2 to 5km walks and swims better than dogs half his age. I have to curb him a little now though, all heart in an aging frame and goes until he is cramped up and sore for a couple days if I do not.

They like it and your knee's will thank you, with the dog carrying 20lbs I used to get away with a 25lb pack for a few days that included 3L of water weight and 3lbs of fishing gear.
 
The North Face Rock 32 Bx Tent 3-Person 3-Season although its 228.00 where i see it i thought that wsnt to much more then your price point for a great tent. maybe with looking you can find it less ? its about 5lb 12oz packed . Good luck in your search.
 
I recently bought a Marmot Limelight 3p tent for $169, but the cheapest I can find today is $199. It comes with footprint and gear loft. Packed weight is 5 lb 15 oz and total weight is 6 lb 11 oz. Pretty nice tent for the price.

I weighed my tent the other day it's 7lbs. My sleeping bag is 3.5 and my cook set 2lbs. the cook set is easy to cut down to at least 1lb. I am searching fora better bag. the big agnes lost ranger is 2.5lbs so there is 2 lbs off right there. If I canshave 2-3 off the tent ill be doing good. I am trying to get my pack minus food and water under 25lbs.
