Need advice on gerber 06 auto

My buddy has an 06 auto that’s beat up and the spring is weak. He’s trying to sell it. What does it look like it might be worth? If I buy it, it’ll be a restoration type project. New spring, redo the handle paint, edge work, etc. what would y’all offer for it?

You could always check the big auction site for sold listings to get an idea of what a heavily used 06 might be worth.

The action on a fully functioning 06 auto is pretty sluggish. It isn’t a snappy knife. Are you sure that there actually is an issue with the spring? The aluminum handles also dings very easily, but that happens with painted aluminum.

Despite the flaws, the 06 auto is a tank of a knife.

The 06 is the knife that disappointed me the most because I really like the design. All of the Gerber autos I’ve handled had some sort of blade play, and their action was very weak. It disappoints me that Gerber took such nicely designed knives and turned them into turds.
