So Im looking for a new sharpening tool, I own the Dmt Guided system, Spyderco Sharpmaker and the worksharp, but I can get polished edges, is the KO Worksharp easy enough to use that anyone can get almost pro edges? If I buy it, what accesories do I need? Mostly high end knives are the ones I use, but I want them to have a beautiful edge

Thanks a lot!!!!!

My .02, the accessory I'd get is the Blade Grinding Attachment...and practice on cheaper knives before doing your "high end" ones. (It's not difficult to learn, but does take some practice).

I've owned the KME, an edge-pro clone, Worksharp KO with BGA, and now have the the Wicked Edge. The Wicked Edge hands down gives me the best edges- sharpest and shiniest and can make any angle you like and finish how you like. $$$$, but worth it if you stink at freehanding edges like me. I like the blade grinding attachment to rough re-profile knives I want to put a convex edge on, then go to waterstones to finish.

I assume this worksharp is not the powered system like the KO Worksharp.

If it is like the WS-KO and it doesn't work for you, I doubt the WS-KO will either.

For polished edges on high end knives, I'd recommend the KME system.

The KME gives you more consistent polished edges without the dangers of a powered system.

The WS, WS-KO, and WS-KO BGA create convex edges. Is that something you want?

Any powered system enables you to work fast. And screw up fast too. A momentary lapse of attention or control and you can round off the tip of a high end knife like that *snap*!

There's a number of difference between the original WS, and the KO edition (variable speed, wider belts, better angle guide, etc.), so not sure you can say if one won't work, neither will the other. Also, variable speed makes a huge difference, in negating the "dangers of a powered system". Always good to pay attention though... ;).

I do agree that if you're more interested in putting a high polished, "beautiful" edge on a knife... a guided manual system might be the better route.
