Hey guys. I don't have much experience with wood oils and could use a recommendation on which to use (both in general and on this particular Condor knife I have. See link.) I was thinking using food grade mineral oil then follow with Howard Butcher Block Conditioner (pure USP grade mineral oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax) which I already have. Another option was shellac which I make myself. I know a lot of people also use boiled linseed oil, tung oil, or danish oil? Any advice on which one(s) I should use?

I like Ren wax for both natural materials (wood, mammoth, etc.) and blades. It really makes Damascus look good. Just use a little, let it dry for like 20 secs, and buff.

The wax I've had going on forever and use on anything and everything that gets waxed - most recently as in today on an Old Hickory Slicer handle - is neutral Minwax finishing wax. I use it on blued steel firearms too as it is a great protectant. Would not overthink this.

which I already have
Just use what you already have. They are all fine, don't over think it or over complicate it. Knives are an expensive pastime, save some cash wherever you can. You have everything you need at your disposal.

I’ve been using pure Tung oil (non toxic once dry) thinned with orange oil for several years on wooden handles and it’s definitely better than most oils in 2 ways.
1) Better waterproofing
2) Longer lasting

This is compared even with boiled linseed oil which is also a drying oil but usually has synthetic chemicals added.

Especially after a few coats, tung oil dries to something like a shellac, but it’s generally considered much better at preventing blisters than shellac/laquer.

I’ve also been using tung oil on steel but it does leave a residue so it might not be for everyone/every knife.

Mineral oil.

I keep it handy for cutting boards, salad bowls, wooden spoons etc. So it gets used on my wood handles too.
