thanks in advance for the help gentlemen!

Well first off, go Iowa Hawkeyes!

Now to the point, you have listed good looking knives there, but out of those I like the Fallknivens and the Kellam. Not that the Fehrman is a bad knife it just that I'm starting to like traditional blades now. I think none of the would be out of place in the bush!

They're all good, but I'm very price oriented, so I would go with the basic F1 and get a decent sheath from eric of On/Scene tactical.

Of the knives that you have listed, the Kellam is beautiful and probably one heck of a good working knife and would be the second that I would choose. The first would be the Fallkniven F1.

thanks for the replies guys and go Hawks Barny!

there is a major price difference between the kellam and the others but i am still drawn to it. this probably seems silly but the kellam is handmade for that personal touch which the others are not. i kind of like the thought of a handmade knife.

still undecided though.

I don't know nearly as much about knives as most around here and am a bit stingy with my money but you are thinking about spending 500 bones for a general use/utility knife?

How about a Mora and a new tent and backpack, or a mora and a new rec kayak, maybe a mora and some new really nice fishing gear, or a mora, a new wool jacket and a new pair of danners...........;) Chris

Get the basic F1. It will not let you down. Then if you feel you need to get a bigger knife, get the S1 or A1.
Another idea is to get a F1 blade and get someone, or yourself to make a handle or your choice.
