Hello everyone, I have been thinking alot lately about my "perfect edc" as I am sure many of you have as well. I have been playing with the idea of selling all knives I have to fund a custom knife project where I build the perfect folder for me. But this is a MAJOR decision for me knife-wise, because I have put alot of time and money into my collection and I like my knives alot. So I am asking the audience on this one for advice. Maybe some of you have also thought or done this before and could help. Also, if I do decide on a custom do you all have suggestions for good makers who are priced fairly and do exceptional wharncliffe folders? So should I sell my collection for a custom or continue collecting????All help, suggestion, and advice is much appreciated. Thanks!!

errr, i find this something of an odd question to be honest.

personally, i wouldn't reccommend flogging off your entire collection to fund one knife purchase.

as for "super duper" high end folders, well, the CRK Sebenza has an almost cult following around here and might suit your needs.

in any case, i'd still suggest hanging onto at least a few of your current favourites if you decide to go down this path.

i'd hate for you to sell off a much loved collection only to have your super-knife get stolen/lost/broken by an idiot or any of the numerous other misadventures that can befall a knife.

So should I sell my collection......

Nope! You'll end up buying most of your collection back if you do, trust me!;)

You'll find that there really is no "perfect knife." Everyone I've known who has found their "grail knife," ends up finding more knives they "need." Just do a search on these forums for thread topics like, "found my grail knife," and see what the members who started them now have collection wise. You might be surprised! The advice I'd give you is to get rid of the knives you really don't want/need in your collection, and use that money to get one or two you really like instead. This is a hobby and an addiction for some. Chances are you'll end up disappointed if you get rid of an entire collection for one "grail knife."

If I really wanted a particularly expensive knife, I wouldn't sell my current accumulation. Instead I'd save my money, for years if necessary, to get my grail knife.

thats right, no perfect knive event some brand show his super duper knives (thats only for marketing project) , if you remember the history of damascus sword and steel sword when crusade war long time ago, damascus steel vs europe steel blade

Also, if I do decide on a custom do you all have suggestions for good makers who are priced fairly and do exceptional wharncliffe folders?

Start by checking out the Chris Reeve Insingo. It's a Sebenza but with a wharncliffe-ish blade (slight curve).

In custom blades look at the Phalanx by Jeff Hall. It has the wharncliffe blade. I'll second the Insingo!:)

I agree with the others: Don't sell off your collection - you'll regret it.

Just save up for a Sebenza.
