Need advice, tips on making my chrome colored pocket clip black...

Any type of polish, paint, finish recommended? New at tinkering, I don't need perfect but I need good. Couple knives I just want to have black pocket clips on them. Not sure how to go about it...?

The more durable finishes for black clips would include black Chrome or Nickel electroplate, PVD coatings like TiAlN, TDLC, CBN, and hot bluing. These are all hard to do in your garage. I would shop for a prefinished clip. They're easy to change.

Black oxide will do the trick, and its super easy to do in your garage. Caswell sells kits and it will last you a lifetime seriously. They have two types, one for non stainless steel, and the other is for stainless steel. But you probably need to get the chrome off first...
