Hi guys, let's see: does anybody has both a Boa & an Avalanche? If yes, wich one of them is better than the other?
Second: does anyone can recommend me a little fixed blade (the only one I have is a Timberline Mini Pitbull, but I broke the sheath) for EDC? Plain edge, full tang, no bigger than 3" inch blade, easy to carry concealed. Thanks!

tacticaloperator - be patient my friend, it's Sunday. I can't tell you anything about the Kershaws but for the small fixed blade I'd recommend a Dozier Straight Personal (or an Arkansas Toothpick if you want to go all tactical-like).

Do you need a really strong fixed blade? You might try to find a Busse Assault Shaker. They out of production now, but come up for resale on the Exchange forums sometimes. They are pretty much indestructible.

Anything by Bob Dozier is excellent :)

See the Doziers here: Vintageknives.com Billy's a good guy and will be glad to answer any questions.

Both Kershaw's are top-end knives. They make no compromises on materials and are generally quite well made.

The decision comes down to personal preferences. I love a good recurve, and the Boa is one of the best. I'm also a big fan of lower guards and flippers, which the Boa provides. Guess which one I prefer? :)

Check out the Benchmade 210 Activator for the small fixed blade. It's only 5.5" total length, and is a beauty.

i have the avalanche and i've handled the boa
the boa is a lot heavier than the avalanche, and it has the nifty flipper like protusion that means your finger won't slide forward and cut itself on the blade, like i did on the avalanche
still, i prefer the avalanche because 1. it's lighter 2. it opens faster

Would you be interested in replacing the sheath? If so contact me via e-mail...I'll get ya squared away.

Not the best picture in the world,, but i think you'll get the idea...
(sheath is in neck carry mode, without clips)

Sheath will do both IWB/OWB,Left/Right, Horizontal,Vertical, Inverted-Belt and neck carry, all in one package...

Drop me a note here
