Hi guys,

Look, this isn't Strider Knife oriented, but I could use some input from you guys as you obviously know your cutlery.

I'm getting married in April and I need to get some gifts for my ushers. I was looking at the Kershaw Ken Onion folders (Chive and Scallion) and the CRKT KISS (Folders).

I've never handled any of them, and I want to make certain that I get the guys a decent, useful little knife. I'd really appreciate your help here.

I carry the Sampson Kiss spearpoint in my waist band everyday, it disappears and doesn't scare the sheeple. I wear it in the back cause my friend recomended it. Handle one of them, they have excellent fit and finish.

The only thing is that the locking bar might get bumped when you are gripping it firmly, never had this happen, but the guy at the local knife shop pointed it out. The bar is pretty thick and solid, and lockup is really tight, though.

Let me know if I can give any more answers, and for Strider comment, I am getting a BT pretty soon.

How about a couple of SureFire E2's? I've a friend who just got married and gave them out with a great degree of sucess.

I had a buddy that gave out leatherman micra's and everyone liked them.
picking out knives for someone else is always a hard thing to do....you could always get them AR's!:D
cheers,
Derek

I think Steve has got a GREAT idea. This way, you need not worry about "sheeple-itis". EVERY MALE just loves a nice[and free] new surefire!!!
If that does not work for you, I would go with a mult-tool.
BTW, Congrats on the BIG event. I wish you both well.......Ira;)

Ken Onion gave me a Chive at Blade Show 2000. It is as Mick says, a very cool knife! Small, SHARP, light and lightning fast with the speed safe mech.

Will your groomsman find a chive useful? They are neat knives but a non knife person might not find much use for it.

After getting many "worthless" groomsman gifts I decided to give away nice Swiss Army Knives. After a decade most of my groomsman still have and use them!

I gave my ushers all Hunter model SAK's, engraved with their initials and inlaid in white so their initials really looked good. They went over very well and generally SAK's don't scare the sheeple. The best part is after 10 years most of the guys still use the knives. I give more knives as gifts than I buy for myself, almost.

Tom

Good Luck and congratulations!

If your groomsmen won't appreciate knives, I think you should re-think your choices for the wedding party! Seriously, I don't know many guys that wouldn't love to get a knife as a wedding present. As for the Onions, I got an assited-open (Whiirlwind?) for my soon-to-be brother in law. Seems like a nice knife. He loves it (he never carried before, but now he feels naked without it). Maybe you can make some knife knuts if you give folders away.

Spydercards
SAKs
Surefire E2s (most expensive choice)
Leatherman Micras
Arc-AAA lights

Congragulations ! The Benchmade Mel Pardue 330's are really nice for a utility folder. Simple and fairly cheap if you shop around.

Cheers

Hal

Thanks for all your input, guys. I think I'm going to go with the "Chive." I handled one today... pretty slick little knife. I think they'll like it.
