Need Advise on a Larger Lockblade

I tried a Queen MM, one of the 1095 from Cumberland and had to send it back for blade play. I now have a Spyderco Endura, a bad a$$ knife. Sharpest knife I've ever received. My problem is the Spyderco is like a Glock and I'm a 1911 guy. I don't want a bulky lockblade like a 110 or a Boker folding hunter. Should I risk another Mountain Man, I'll stick with D2 as many of the problems seem to be with the 1095. Are my odds better with the Aged Honey Amber Bone Mountain Man? I look at those great pics from The Last Confederate and those beautiful knives call to me.

What about the Schatt and Morgan versions are they any better, but 420HC? Is 420HC better than D2?

The Moore Maker in yellow bone and 1095 is sweet, but a $40 premium to a queen - no thanks.

My other choice is a Case Copperlock. Of course I can't get it the way I want it. Traditional scales with a CV blade, and I prefer a wharncliff to their clip design. The only wharncliff I've seen on EBAY are leopard or zebra...great.

Can I tighten a blade that has side to side blade play?

Thanks,
tjg

pinetree, the best Mt Man I ever saw, lock up wise, had been sent back to Queen. It was a tight mutha' when they got through with it.I understand (since I did not send it),that it did not take that long,either....within a month

Two other lockbacks come to mind,AG Russell, and Kershaw Gents

tjg,

Did you ask Bill Horn to actually take it out of the box and test for the blade play? As I've mentioned several times, the carved stag bone model I have locks up like a vault.

If Bill would agree to take it out and actually test it I might be inclined to try it again. I think the carved stag and amber carved stag bone models are attractive as well.

The edge that came on mine was by far the sharpest of any Queen I've ever owned.
