need advise

I think you'll have more luck over in this forum. See, this particular area of bladeforums.com is just for us old farts who prefer simple, old-timey, non-locking pocketknives with bone handles (from time to time we'll tolerate delrin) and "stainmore" carbon steel. Good luck.

I personally think the knives CRKT offers are one of the best deals around as far as bang for the buck.

Moved from Trad. forums.

The M16 series from CRKT is fantastic.
I have a M16-13LE with the aluminium scales and it will take some abuse. Unfortunately I didn't find the ergos that great, so now I carry an Emerson CQC-10 and a Boker Subcom

I have two variations of the M16, one is the compact (EDC) and the other is the large model with a tanto blade ( M16 14M). I bought the larger one first and was pretty impressed with the overall quality. Plus the flipper is very easy to use and if you like Balis, this might be a good choice.

I saw the smaller model on sale and figured it would be good to carry when I was at work. But I''m not too thrilled with the small compact version. It just seems to be overpriced for what you get. The EDC is just too plain and toy-like to me.

Most agree the aluminum handled models are built better than the Zytel handled versions. I would recommend one of the medium or large aluminum M16's.

Another choice would be the Kershaw Storm II , at $35.00 it's a bargain, I like the framelock and blade shape better.

The Z series (Zytel handles) has AUS 4 steel.
The regular Aluminum series has AUS 8 steel.
On the Aluminum series the blades are bigger.
I have a M16-12 Aluminum and it is a solid work knife and holds a good edge well.
For the extra money go with AUS 8.

honestly, you can do a lot better than crkt. the byrd line from spyderco offers FAR better quality at similar prices. The Meadowlark is an excellent knife for edc and if offered with G10 scales, full steel liners, and a far stronger lock, not to mention better blade steel than AUS-8. Just my .02

As far as the M16's go, the only one I've ever had was an M16-14T. Titanium handles, almost 4" Aus8 blade... it is as sturdy a knife as I have ever found. There has been mention that the CRKT liner locks aren't the strongest, but mine performs well. Although you can get a better knife for the money, I would still recommend it because I feel that 'liking' a particular model is as good a reason to buy it as any.
