I got this Danish style war axe awhile back in a trade. Although the head has a high polish, it is high carbon steel and will pit easily if care is not taken. It takes a pretty good edge and appears to be well made. The head is 6 1/2 " long with a 5 " blade. The overall length is 23" with a black leather grip that measures 7 1/4" long. The weight is 2.lbs.5 oz. I enclosed a close up of a makers mark that appears to be the letter H with an arrow running through it.

I had a Cold Steel "Viking Battle Axe" that was stolen in a burglary. It was a cool thing. I notice they're making them again, but they're mega-expensive. Still, they're drop-forged and differentially heat treated. I think they're worth the money.
I'd love to use it against the burglars, who turned out to be a group of slime bag, teenaged drop-outs. I'll post a link to the CS axe from Amazon:

Wow! sorry for all the extra space. This one is $113. It really sucks that they caught the thieves, but I never got back any of my property

Checked thru the makers marks I have on file...Sorry no help !

Thanks for trying to help identify the axe guys. I like the look of the Paul Chen short Viking axe. It's close to the dimensions of the axe that I am trying to identify. The price is much lower than the Cold Steel. Here's a picture of one.

Mossyhorn I have no idea who made that axe but he clearly knew what he was doing. The lines and proportions look very faithful to the originals I've been able to examine, with perhaps only one minor exception which is that this one seems maybe a bit thicker in the cheeks (the vikings might have been a bit more stingy with their steel). Also this looks like it's a one-piece construction, and not folded. But either way I think it looks great! Much nicer, in my opinion, than the Paul Chen or Cold Steel renditions.

I agree Wulf. The cheeks are thick. It would probably make a good splitter.
