I've got the hots for a scandi {brusletto balder} style knife or something along those lines. Anybody messed with them and did you like them. i'm looking for something to serve as an edc pocket fixed blade. just curious, of course for the price if i get it and don't like it no problem. well what do you think.

thanks for suggestion regarding knifeforums, been there and read nothing bad just wanting a slightly more balanced opinion. thanks guys.

The Balder is a nice little knife. I got one to carry in the pocket, mainly as a small whittling fixed blade for the woods. It's a good knife and cuts well (Mine came with a very noticable burr, but a few passes on ceramic sticks on the very edge and it was quite sharp). I can fit four fingers on it if I want, but a 3 finger grip is more comfortable. The steel is good stuff.

The main reason I decided to let go of mine is I find a Swiss Army Knife just works better for me. Cuts better (Reprofiled), more compact in the pocket, has other tools like a woodsaw and the lack of a lock isn't much of a problem unless you're doing a lot of work with the tip. Overall I prefer the Buck Hartsook to it.

One thing to keep in mind if you plan to EDC it in the pocket is the sheath has no liner. This means the risk of the knife poking through is there, along with caution being advisable when un-sheathing the knife.

I've got a Balder. It's a great little knife for $17. I use it for whittling -- I've come to favor small fixed blades for that task. Mine came with a true Scandi grind, and its downright stupid simple to sharpen. I find the Sandvick blade holds a good fine edge. The handle ergos work for me.

If you want an unbiased opinion go ask someone who has never owned a knife.

Thanks for the help i think i'm going to pull the trigger on one today. The sheath keeps coming up as about the only shortcoming of this particular model, but as mentioned above for $17 you pretty much can't go wrong.
