You've seen every American classic knife and sword movie. Rented every katana war, boarding party battle, wu shu fight, light saber duel on tape at the local vid store.

Well you might have missed one. "By the Sword" with Eric Roberts and F. Murray Abraham. It's the story of 2 fencers, one a champion turned school owner, the other a retired ex con. Two different styles and personalities who share history with each other.

It's a good short flick for sword and knife folks and for Bob Anderson fans. The Salle is cool and for your detail oriented folks, there are two souvenir plaques of Southern Filipino Muslim weapons on the wall.

Try "The Duellists", directed by Ridley Scott, of "Gladiator" fame, with Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel as stars. It is about two Napoleonic era cavalry officers, one of whom is obsessed with dueling and the other with simply surviving this idiot's obsession.

The Duellists is good and there are PLENTY of duels in them and they go through just about every weapon.
