Hey guys – it's been awhile since I've been on... Last time I was here I was asking what you thought about The Rockstead Hizen.. Never wound up getting it as I believe I am getting sick of washers. I want something flicky and high-end. I'm thinking about the Shiro neon nl, but they're pretty much unobtainable besides the reseller thieves who want $900 or more for them.
Do you guys have any comparable knives in mind to suggest to me while I wait for Shiro to become available at retail price?
Thanks in advance -
Been lurking for a few weeks - glad to be back!

I really want the f3 ns, but it's too big for my preferences.. I'm thinking about an 0562cf..
Thanks guys

I second the CKF suggestion.

An interesting pick might be something from Vero. I just acquired an Axon, unsure if I would like it, and they do things right. Very acquired taste, but I haven’t found many knives smoother. And it’s m390/end cut CF, bearing goodness, and all the fit and finish you could want for usually under $400.

On the subject of knives that are smoother than the Vero…

I don’t know how you feel about China, but the Reates I’ve had all were very smooth, and had this unique “clunk” lockup to them. Great tolerances. If you check Reate out, you’ll see the trend. I bought both of mine for about $200 each, but good luck finding that… You should be able to find something for under $300.

In the budget-high-end section, I’d recommend the CH Emperor. Gorgeous sandblasted S35VN and Ti framelock with Timascus pivot collars. Bearings. Really, really good action. I find myself carrying this knife repeatedly over many others just because I think it looks great, and the action is superb. Also, at $170 new it doesn’t take hurt me to use it on gluey carpet and crud. However, be aware that you do give up a few points of F&F/design with this choice. The thumbstuds are placed as to be useless (flipper has no issues), and the pivot screws extend slightly out over the Timascus inlays on one side due to the contouring. That bothers some people. There are a few other tiny things that kinda stand out, but really I don’t care. It’s one of my favorite knives, and I don’t think it’s going to stop soon.

Every knife you listed is made in China.

Someone once posted a chart of knives Skiff bearings were compatable with...but cannot find it now.

Skiff finally started a list on their webpage:

There is also an older spreadsheet that somebody put together (I don't know this person).

I've been trying them out in different knives too. Lots and lots of Chinese knives take their 5mm, 1/16", 11-ball ceramics. I've put that size in a bunch of Civivi and Sencut knives. The difference it makes depends on the knife. (Yeah, it might be funny to have $12 bearings in a $45 knife but some of those really do punch above their grade as everyday users.) As far as nicer knives that won't break the bank, that size also works in the WE Beacon and WE Seer. I'll check the WE Snick when I get a chance.

Thanks for posting it. May help those searching for knives with bearings.
