Hi, I'm considering purchasing a user knife that is pretty badly scratched up. Is there somewhere well known and consistently high quality where I can send in the knife to be bead-blasted and re-coated? The knife is a hard to find M2 steel blade which I really want protected. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

I wouldn't bead blast M2 steel personally. Maybe see if someone like Walter Birdsong can do his Black T finish or perhaps find some other baked on epoxy metal coatings service can put a finish on it for you instead.

Check out www.WilsonTactical.com , click on FAQ. They will coat other makers blades. I have one of their model 25's with black Tacti-cote finish. I just got the knife and haven't put it through any hard use but it's gone in and out of a tight Kydex sheath countless times without any wear. In fact, instead of the Kydex rubbing finish off the blade, the finish is rubbing Kydex off the sheath. I don't know what they would charge you but I paid $40 extra for the finish.

The customer service I recieved from Wilson Tactical was great. I sent several E-mails and each was promptly responded to.
