Recently traded for a breeder CUB and love it the sheath (even though it is made well) is leather and I can already see the blade slicing away at it from the inside out after continued use. So my question is does neone have any options for this particular knife or suggestions to keep the blade from slicing the stitching and eventually ruining the sheath altogether?

I would assume that Bryan put a welt in the sheath, so that the stitching cannot be sliced. I could be wrong, I guess.

The only photo I could find of the CUB sheath leaves some doubt as to whether there is a welt installed or not. If there is no welt......well then, that is your problem. If there is a welt then you may be inserting the knife at an odd angle and this will cause any leather sheath to be cut over time. Pictures of the edge of your sheath will tell the tale.

It probably is my fault since I dont take time to gently insert the knife into the sheath when in use, so I guess this makes my new question are there any other types of sheaths available for this knife? Or maybe something to cover the top corner so that the slice wont continue?

mind you this slice started on the inside corner and the extended along top edge, so Im sure the extending was my fault since I do not take care how I re-sheath a knife (used to kydex with most of my bushcraft knives) so Im looking for advice to stop the damage from getting worse, or where I can get a different kind of sheath either made or produced for a better carry option.

A quick fix would be to insert a rivet to that existing sheath. It would hold it together and you wouldn't have to worry about how you insert your knife anymore.
Myself, I'd rather make a new sheath....that knife will last you a long time, may as well have a nice sheath for it...that one does not look like it was made by an experienced sheath maker.

Does anyone make a sheath for it? I dont know how to make one myself. Let me rephrase does anyone make a sheath for it that doesnt cost more than the knife? I love the knife but since the sheath is only a carry system to me I dont want my sheath worth more than the actual knife its carrying.

Like Rayban said, take it to your friendly shoe repair shop. A little contact cement and one rivet and you are back in business. Don't know what you paid for the knife, but a decent sheath from an experienced maker would probably run between $60 and $100. You do get what you pay for..........most of the time.;)

Aman leatherman !! You get what you pay for, as far as most of the time goes, if you pay for a quality sheath and receive something sub-standard, the maker will not be around very long.
