I want to hook up the groomsmen at my wedding with some sweet knives. I don't want one of the cheap ones with engravings that you see online.

I'm aiming to buy 6 of them in a $50 price range for the groomsmen and one for my best man in a $100 price range (big wedding party). Anyone have ideas on solid knives for them and where to buy?

I've considered the CRKT Snap Fire because I can get them for around 50 bucks and they look great. Please help if you can.

I hadn't considered going the multi-tool route, but that may be a good option. Thanks! I was thinking along the lines of a locking, plain blade or serrated combo.

Up to this point I've just been a casual knife user. I only own a BM Griptilian 551, Leatherman Wave, and a couple of Bucks.

If people could suggest actual models of knives they like that would be fantastic. Thanks again!

Check out the Kershaw Leek. They score very high on the cool gadget index and there are enough variants that each groomsman could have his own style.

Thanks donovan! I just checked out the Leek and it looks like a great option. I want something quality that will last in their pockets. :-) I love that it's made in the US.

The Leek is near the top of the list right now, but I'm open for more suggestions.

I wonder if any of the Spydercos in stainless might be appropriate since you could engrave on them.

Of course, with the engraving, you might be over your $50 mark.

Then again, it might be do-able. Check out this link.

Or better yet, this one.

If you like your Griptilian, gpknives.com has some mini and fullsize Griptilians for under $50 along with some other knives you might find interesting. Check in their sale items section. I have owned 3 Kershaw knives and like them very well. I have 4 more Kershaws on order, one of which is a Leek. I have a bunch of CRKTs and have had good service out of them. Like you, I have been looking at the Snap Fire. I don't need it and probably would never use it but it does look cool.

Gave out spyderco Delicas - they still have them.

Elope!

Seriously - do it. I'm not kidding. Cancel the caterers, the hall and everything, bump up the date of your honeymoon, and just do it. Apologize to family after the fact.

Assuming you do go through with it though, you might want to look at the stainless steel Spyderco Kiwi: http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=3847

My brother gave me a Leatherman Wave for being his best man, which was pretty cool, too. Also keep in mind that you can get a pretty spectacular Victorinox swiss army knife for that kind of scratch.

Keep in mind that you can still give your friends knives even if you choose to elope!

On a completely different note, Case small toothpicks are like little jewels that people "ooh" and "aah" over; made in USA, great company, and guaranteed to offend absolutely no one.

MidwayUSA.com has Buck 279 Alpha Hunters for $44.09 and most folks should be quite pleased. Almost everyone recognizes the brand, even if they know nothing about knives.

Yes, I must say the Alpha Hunter is a great suggestion. I bought one as a gift for someone (the 277 in rosewood & ATS-34) - but after oiling the sheath...and handling the knife...uh, I got that person something else.

The Alpha Hunters are impressive and look like they should cost more than they do.

Great suggestion.

I would go with the stainless Spyderco Delica's. The engraving may put you a little over the $50 mark but it's worth it. Better than the stupid orange and green tie I got for being in a wedding. Get an stainless Endura or Native for the best man.
