I'm looking for some burl or some nicely-figured wood. I need handle blocks, and longer scabbard-length pieces. Anyone know of a decent source these days? I'm looking for something perhaps blonde in color, but anything nice will work.

I have been getting some excellent Burl from Jeff Diote at Downie Knife supplies

Hey Jeff,
There's a good wood shop in Rowley, Ma. Just north of Topsfield on RT1. http://www.righteouswoods.net/woodmenu.html

A great selection of woods, I've not seen much better in New England. You can get lots of wood there :footinmou ...

WOW!

Nice stuff. I just called, but the guy isn't too accommodating. I wanted a specific size and he said they won't cut it off a larger log for me. Said I would have to buy the whole log.

*sigh*

Guess I'll have to take a trip to Mass. Oh well, I'm overdue for a visit to Mr. Dooley's anyway! Sliante!

When you visit Mass. I hope you do not go any further south than Boston.

GrassHoppa and I must make a trip to that lumberyard too. :D

Our favorite Lumberlady has been very ill lately, but must be feeling better, thankfully. I talked to her son that was running things while she was hospitalized. She is the greatest, and wonderful to do business with. Hey, get well, gal!
