I just got my Bushcraft in a few days ago and I took it out in the backyard a few times. Mother of God is this a great knife. Anyway, as I am going into the backyard again today, I noticed the beginnings of corrosion on the exposed tang. It completely slipped my mind to wipe down the handle. Is there a way to treat the exposed tang with some coating so I wont have to worry about that in the future? I though about doing a patina, but will it stand up to use with my hand rubbing on it when in use? Thanks for the advice

Mother of God is this a great knife.

that sounds about how i felt the first time i used my bushcraft...and every single time since then :) i never have any corrosion problems with mine (or my other knives - they are 1095, which i think is even more susceptible to corrosion than o1 because i read members talk about it all the time?). i think your sweat is more acidic than average? anyway, you can spray paint it with a clear lacquer or use vinegar for patina.

here's my bk-2 as an example with vinegar patina (i completely soaked it in a jar full of vinegar for a few hours then rinsed off) just to see what it's like. will it stand up to use? i guess you'll just have to find out how acidic your sweat is.

The patina on the tangs of my BushcraftUKs is entirely from my sweat/skin oils, and it seems to hold up just fine. I haven't noticed it either wearing away or staining my hands.
