This would be to compliment my BM 556 Mini Griptillian. I love this knife but would like something at the same size and roughly the same price point. The only other knives that I have had that meet these requirements are the Kershaw Vapor and the Camillus EDC 154 CM I lost the Camillus and have thought about replacing it, but the only thing that bugged me about that knive is that it kept getting loose at the tang screw so the blade would get wobbly.

I need suggestions on a sub 3" folder. Keep them coming please! Thanks.

What about a SOG Twitch II? Don't have one yet, but have an order in..got it for like $45 shipped on ebay. Seems pretty well liked, some good reviews on this forum.

Kershaw black outs are pretty darn nice for under $50. IMO

Fallkniven U2....squaaarrkk.....Fallkniven U2....squaaaarrrkk
Polly want a Fallkniven U2.

:D

I just got my mini Griptilian and love it. I already know you can't have too many. What about another one in a different color, blade configuration, etc.

Camillus EDC and a small tube of red Loctite.

Spyderco Delica.

Another vote for the Delica because the VG-10 steel is pretty amazing IMHO. It's also different enough from the Mini-Grip that it would compliment it nicely. I have both and have carried them together.

The blade on the Blackout is 3 and 1/4, IIRC.

Hey peanut, Is this a known problem with the EDC? I have blue loctite, would that be ok? Does red break easier?

Off to the spydie website... Is the blade tension adjustable on the Sypderco's?

Most pivot screws on quality folders have some threadlocker applied to it out of the factory. It's only natural for the screw to loosen from repeated openings/closings if there's nothing to stop the screw from unscrewing itself. Red is more permanent than blue. From what I've seen blue is common from the factory (Benchmade, Spyderco), but I find that blue isn't quite strong enough and red is easy enough to break when needed (but this is on balisongs which get much more pivot work than a normal folder). You only need a little though. Too much, and 3 things can happen. One, the stuff never hardens and doesn't do a damn thing. Two, you'll never get the screw undone (although I'm told a heat gun can loosen it up). Or three, it'll overflow and gunk up the entire pivot. You only need to do a couple to a few threads worth, and only apply it to 1 side of the screw (screwing it in will take care of the unapplied part).

Thank you for your most informative reply! I will give that a try if needed later. So far my 556 has not loosened up at all. I always try to get them as loose as possible PROVIDED that there is no blade "wobble". That was sometimes hard to do on the Camillus EDC.

As a back up to your prefered EDC ( mini grip ), maybe a Spyderco SS Cricket.
I recently picked one up new in box on ebay for $26.00 and reckon its the perfect, small in size, cuts big, people friendly, extremely functional "don't leave home without it" knife. When you pull this little chap out in public, people smile, they don't look at you like you are a serial killer.

Revisted a new Delica today.... great and better than ever. Get one.

If you'd like something nicer, still under $100, I"m very happy (so far) with my
Seki Cut Lil' Encounter. Amazing cutting ability, penetrates better than any knife I own, save for my Webb and Fisher Wharncliffe. Great piece.

If you are going to carry both at the same time, how about a Delica in full serrations?

The Spyderco Delica and Calypso Jr. are not adjustable.

Still, they are good knives.

Other recommendations:

Kershaw Rainbow Leek
Another 556 Mini-Grip in a different color.

Happy hunting,
Allen.
