Hey guys,

My search-fu is not that strong, but I have been looking at posts about the BushBoot.

If you happen to have one that you have used, can you please give me your thoughts on the handle's comfort for extended cutting, impressions on its use, how you've used your BushBoot etc, photos of the knife in hand...?

I am drawn to the design but my imagination is struggling with the handle shape. I tend to use my knives hard, and for extended periods of time. I realize the BushBoot isn't a full-sized handle, but I like the idea of a light weight knife with a tapered tang...

And yes, I know this thread is essentially a "convince me to buy another FBF"...I suppose the main difference isn't so much whether I eventually buy a BushBoot, it's whether I buy a few other Fiddlebacks before I buy the BushBoot. Life is tough, ain't it?

Thanks for your thoughts, photos, etc.

The Bushboot was the model that first drew me into Fiddleback. I love the design but ended up going with a Bushfinger instead for the ergonomics everyone was raving about. No regrets of course but I eventually would like a bushboot as well. Subbing for other's comments and photos.

It's going to depend on the size of your hand. I liked both of the ones I've had used. But got away from the urban area and can edc a larger knife knife now. The Bushboot is hands down my wife's favorite Fiddleback. She snagged my black one, then complained that she wanted a blue one...so I sold it to help get us through the winter and have been told I must get her a blue Bushboot in the future...

The Bushboot is a great size for edc, and a damn handy little knife. I really like the handle, but some with large hands do not...

Thanks! I have average sized hands width wise, and short fingers. Hmmm. Maybe I will buy a pretty one so that if I don't like it, my wife will...any photos in hand, gang? Not Thurin, of course...I doubt you could even tell he was holding a knife... :)

I do not like the bushboot handle. Just never fit right no matter how I wanted to use it. That's just a personal thing and in no way reflects the quality of the knife. I sold it for a hiking buddy and have been very pleased. I like my knives straighter, I guess. Don't really like the Karda for the same reason. It's just a preference thing.

Rhiney, your hands sound about on par with mine. i have a big palm and tiny fingers. i'm a freak of nature. i know. i love my bushboot for a EDC. its not necessarily the best for prolonged cutting, or even bushcrafting, but it will do it if asked. i mainly like to carry it around cuz lets face it, its pretty bad ass. get a swedge grand and it really does look like its ready for a barfight. As far as comfortability, my hand palm feels a little cramped at first but once you start using it and it turns into a mid 3 finger knife. the curvature of the handle gives you a few nice grip options. Underhanded feels second nature. Again, if you find one that suits your look, jump on it.

The Bushboot is also what drew me into this Fiddleback madness. I became a little skeptical at first also when I didn't find much discussion about it but knew I wouldn't be happy until I got one. My first Fiddleback Friday I wasn't concerned with price, handle material or color, just went straight for it. No regrets after receiving it. Mine is a Tuxedo SFT in 01. Stock photos are on the 2-14-14 FB Friday post. I haven't used it a whole bunch or for extended periods at a time. I have used it for opening boxes, stripping small gauge wire, cutting some 1/2" nylon rope and it snaps through zip-ties like nobody's business. No complaints with sharpness or edge-keep (even after the electrical wire). A couple minutes on the strop brought it back to like-new. I'm 6' and a portly 200 lbs. in my opinion I have average size hands. Here's a couple quick shots I took just before I wrote this. Sorry for the lighting! Hope this info helps!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1394241714.423586.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1394241743.145229.jpg

I own two Bushboots and carry one or the other as edc. The size is right for me to use in doing routine chores. My hands are big and the handle still feels good. I chose the Bushboot over the Hiking Buddy due to the handle shape. Like a lot of things, it's just a matter of personal comfort. No right or wrong issues to be solved.
