Someone sent me a couple of Medeval style songs in MP3 format as an attachment to an E_MAIL I don,t have an MP3 player except in my home theater . Can I play this music somehow ? If I need some kind of hardware interface I,m not that interested at the moment . However in the future I,m going to make a more complicated request where this one will fall into place as a matter of course .What can you do for me for now ? In case this helps it is a Sony 5 changer S-master digitally amplified Home theater .

System as in computer ? I have a dell pentium 2 . I don,t know if thats what you want to know . The sony home theater is a pretty good one

Go here http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/ download this-jetAudio 6.2.6 Basic;it'll play most any type of audio/video codecs you run into.

Once it's installed you'll need to move the MP3 over to your PC (not real sure how to do this) put it on your desktop and then right click on it choose "open with" then choose (click on) jetaudio.

If you have any trouble getting it off the e-mail say so and...I'll try to help.

Won't windows media player play em'?

Open media player, click and drag the file into the player.

Generally it will, but Ive had times it won't...and Jetaudio just sounds better! then WMP trust me I'm running a $520.00 Wal-Mart tank!!

Thanks guys I,ll work on that when my eyes aren,t crossing from lack of sleep . One question . How do I get this onto my home theater ?

As the tourist eyeing the massage parlour once said "Therein lies the rub."
I want to go from computer reading MP3 to home theater . is there an output on computer that will match an input on home theater ?

Hmm...I'm stupid on this (I thought all music systems used CD)

But the universal thing on PC's is the USB 2.0 jack...I'd guess if the home theater has it then your good to go.All you need is a two-ended USB 2.0 wire.

Look at the back of your PC (or sometimes on a new PC they're on the front as well). There should be three small jacks. Usually they're color coded - one green, one red, one black or blue. These are the sound outputs/inputs. Typically one is for your headphones/speakers on the PC, one for a Microphone and one is an external audio out to go to a stereo system/home theatre system or whatever. You may or may not have received a connecting cable. If not, just go to Radio shack and they should have one - explain to the clerk what your inputs/outputs look like and they should be able to tell you. Your manual should tell you specifically what jack is used for what.

Thanks , thats what I needed to know for now and I think both puter and theater are equipped with those type of input outputs . Perhaps part of the reason I needed this that was not apparent is that I don,t have a C:D: burner . Your advice allows me to skip the burning and go direct puter yo theater . I will need a C:D: burner eventually and your advice for things slightly more complex . The M:P:3 will keep me busy for a little while . If a couple of you have medeval or Celtic music in M:P:3 maybe we could trade ?

Once you get the CD burner you can download a free program called a ripper. That will convert your mp3's into CD tracks that will play on your stereo like a regular CD. You can also "rip" your music on CD onto your computer as mp3's. Whenever you are looking for free programs goto www.download.com. They've got them all.
