I'm confused (what's new) and I've confused another forum member about the Schrade 'D'Holder knives. What I got from the new AGRussell catalog is this:
Five knives were planned, four were delivered. #4 in the series was the 'whitetail deer' (engraved on the guard) with Red English walnet. There was also a 'grizzly' handled with Desert Ironwood. And a 'Big Horn' Sheep with Sheephorn handles. There also was an 'Elk' (what kind of handles???) Is this all correct? And what was the order they were issued in?

And then there is this little beauty I just picked up this afternoon (Can I find the Schrades or what?) at a local shop. It is Marked 'Schrade-D'holder', one of 500, it is serial numbered (#350) and came with the Schrade-D'holder zippered pouch and the beautiful sheath. There is the original insert with the knife, telling how this is the second in a series. The steel is BG42, the handles are a very beautiful Green, stabilized maple burl. This is one heck of a fine knife.
Anyone know what year it was produced?

which isn't very much - this knife is from the SDHx series (as opposed to the SDH0x) series. I believe there were 3 knives in this series SDH1 - Stag; SDH2 - Maple Burl; SDH3 - Green Maple (which is the one in the photo).
The SDH0x series has the Grizzly - SDH01; the Ram -SDH02 and the Elk - SDH03. There was supposed to be a SDH04 - Whitetail (Walnut Handles) but I've only seen a picture - no idea if any actually hit the market.
Anyone knows more please jump in as I'm confused too!

Thank you Del! This is a line of Schrades I just never paid any interest in, which was my mistake.

In the current AG Russell catalog, referenced above, the ad copy states that AG only recieved 50 of the whitetail of the 100 he ordered.. before Schrade crashed. So yep, if AG says it, must be true- they were produced in small numbers. Your search for the complete set must resume.

Apprecaite it.

Larry has one of those and he and I have been throwing D'Alton Holder pics back and forth all day, so I am sure he can tell you what year it was produced. And I thought he had posted the years of the others too, but I have CRS. I'll be talking with Mr. Holder shortly about one of his knives, so I'll ask him if Larry or UHfan don't beat me to it.

Del is correct. THe model I have is a SDH3. I do note that Phils is a 1st edition run and is stamped as such where mine is not. My serial # is 0564
When it was produced I do not know 2002-3 is a guess.
The SDH02 -Ram is the blade I said sang to me.

Del needs to put all of his d'Holders together and send us a few pictures. I'll gladly post em for you if you have any trouble.

Codger: tell D'Holder thanks from all of us of the "Lost "
