I'm confused (what's new) and I've confused another forum member about the Schrade 'D'Holder knives. What I got from the new AGRussell catalog is this:
Five knives were planned, four were delivered. #4 in the series was the 'whitetail deer' (engraved on the guard) with Red English walnet. There was also a 'grizzly' handled with Desert Ironwood. And a 'Big Horn' Sheep with Sheephorn handles. There also was an 'Elk' (what kind of handles???) Is this all correct? And what was the order they were issued in?
And then there is this little beauty I just picked up this afternoon (Can I find the Schrades or what?) at a local shop. It is Marked 'Schrade-D'holder', one of 500, it is serial numbered (#350) and came with the Schrade-D'holder zippered pouch and the beautiful sheath. There is the original insert with the knife, telling how this is the second in a series. The steel is BG42, the handles are a very beautiful Green, stabilized maple burl. This is one heck of a fine knife.
Anyone know what year it was produced?
Phil
