Okay fellow knife enthusiasts, I am relatively new to the knife world (I own a spyder police, a couple benchmade griptilians, and a cold steel recon. I really love the quality of the blades from the spyderco line and I was looking for a new EDC knife - specifically either the Delica 4 or the Endura 4. I can get the delica for about $50 and the white Endura for about $58. Which one should I get? Is there something better? Thanks guys!

you would be doing yourself a favor to check out the Ontario RAT 1 knife. On ebay it goes for about 30-35 bucks (including shipping!). Nutnfancy, on youtube has a review of it. Just do a search and check it out. It is a heavy duty EDC knife that can do it all -the only scarafice is that it is a little heavy, but not too heavy to leave behind. The toughesf EDC folder I know of within this price range. The steel holds an edge great too.

If you like the serrated version it usualy sells a lot cheaper.

Every time I think about it I want to buy another -just in case they are discontinued.

Both the endura and delica are very nice, it all depends on what size blade you want. I would say try the delica first as it seems you already have a few larger blades. If you have yet to try a waved knife take a look at the D4 with emerson wave, tough little knife that works great in the back pocket.

I would say get a Manix 2 from the for sale forums. A NIB one just sold for 60 shipped a few days ago. If you wait a bit you could snag one up for around that much.

I have the Endura 4. It is a nice knife but with a blade of ~4" it's a bit too large for me to EDC. It does sit nicely in the pocket with its narrow frame though. And with its strong tip, VG-10 steel and blade size I have relegated it to my weekend EDC, hard use or house/yard work carry. The Delica would be a good EDC choice with its smaller size but for me I prefer the full-flat grind the Endura G-10 offers or for that matter, the Spyderco Tenacious. With a price of $30-35, the Tenacious offers a lot of value with features of knives costing 2-3 times as much. Features like full-flat grind, G-10 scales, phosphor bronze pivot washers, smooth/fast opening, great ergos, open construction and excellent fit & finish. The Native ($50-60) is another good knife with upper-end steel (S30V). The only knock on the Native is its pinned construction. That said, my Native 4 works well in my EDC rotation.

Some other non-Spyderco recommendations would be the Buck Vantage Pro in S30V+G-10 ($45-50), Kershaw Skyline ($35) and Kershaw OD-1 ($40). All 3 are US made and the Kershaws can be picked up at Walmart.

I have the caly3 SE and I love this knife. The G10 scales feel great and the handle just fits great in the hand. If you like SE then I would recommend getting this knife from Sierra Trading Post for around $74.95. If you sign up for their newletter, then you get a 20% discount so it comes to be about $60. The bad thing is you have to spend over $75 to get the discount.

I've been a fan of Spyderco forever, and my Delica has been one of my favorite EDC knives for years. I think unless you really need a larger blade for some reason, you can't really beat the Delica for quality, price and usefulness.

The Delica's more compact dimensions are more universally suited for EDC, in my opinion.
One thing I don't like about the stock Delica is the FRN handle. I much prefer G10. But, each to his own and FRN makes it cheaper.
My recommendation is a choice:
- Or, save a bit more for the Caly 3. It's a very sturdy modern classic. I think it's a level above the already nice Delica. It's compact and strong, a great utility knife.
- Or, for the same money as the Delica, investigate the practical and elegant Centofante 3 or 4. The blade is thinner, making for a superb slicer (for food for example). It's more a good quality big gentlemen knife while Delica and Caly are more utility knives.

I can't comment on Manix 2 yet.

cheers!

+1

I EDC one now, one spare in the drawer.

The Delica 4 is a very good option as well. It is not as solid as the RAT, but very ergonomic, comfortable and quick to deploy.

More useful as a light to medium use EDC, without the tactical/survival ability of the RAT.

Excellent feedback guys, I will take everything into consideration! What do you guys think about the tenacious. Ive been reading that it's a Value is Great. Has anyone ever dealt with problems with this knife?

The Spyderco Tenacious or Persistance are definately good bets. I think I got my tenacious for 38 shipped, and it's pretty robust. It's a surprising little knife.

Tenacious and persistance are great little knives but they are made in china which is a deal breaker for some (myself included:()

I think i would save a little more and get a para military or some other higher end spydie just becuase you already own some similar knives. But thats just me:)

I ended up picking up the Ontario Rat 1 for $27 shipped! Because it was so cheap, I'm still looking for a smaller, more EDC friendly blade. Any suggestions? Would want to stick with spyderco vg-10 for this one.
