Need equipment info

I ran across a piece of equipment the other day in the form of a kiln. While I was checking out the Canadian Knifemakers Guild web page I noticed a heat treating furnace that looks very similar to the kiln I saw a few days ago.

Are they one in the same? Can they be used both for heat treatment and for clay firing?

I didn't get the specs from the junk dealer that had the kiln but in they looked the same on the outside. The plug was massive and the three prongs were set up in a triangular format.

I realize that this info is vague but should I persue this piece of kit or am I wasting my time?

I go down to the local pottery shop to check the acuracy of my pyrometers every now and then against there thousands of dollars computor controaled kilns. They get up to 2100F so the heat is there. I have even seen a salt pot outfit in a stack or four pottery kilns to do swoards.
Yes they should work.

That is what I use for heat treat, a ceramic kiln. I had to add a dial to set the heat range and to eliminate the cone fire switch then I added a pyrometer. Works Great.
