I have looked through older posts and seems that people have strong opinions on file guides, but I am not sure who is still making them or what's still available.

Can anyone recommend a good file guide, preferably SS that can be dunked in water, since I grind Post HT.

Thanks a ton!

Brian Bump has taken over for @Bruce Bump making their file guides. They recently revamped their design that now includes removable carbide inserts. I got mine a few weeks ago and I can attest to the precision and craftsmanship that went into it. It is a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. I am not sure what the rules are regarding posting links but if you google Bruce Bump file guides it should be easy enough to find as they are still sold on Bruce's website.

This, buy once, cry once.

I have a behnke which is aluminum and lighter weight and a riverside which is steel and heavier and bulkier

I've got the Bruce Bump model, it's fantastic. It's one of thier old ones, but it's great!

I have a Bump and a Riverside. Both are nice but I prefer the Bump.

I also have a Bruce Bump one and have no issues with it. Haven't used a different one to compare with.

I bought one that had the carbide strips epoxied on and I have a tendency to get it too hot and then dip in water. The epoxy let’s go and then I have to fix it over night and start again the next day. Just got the Brian Bump version so I could churn and burn without issues. It is nice!

I have an early Bump. I have had a carbide come loose. Bruce fixed it right away. But it seems that I can't get even plunges with it. I doubt this is typical for Bruce's guides. I have switched to another SS carbide-faced guide, very similar to Bruce's, made by another member here (Eric Kidwell) which works great.

I have the Creative Man one as well. I like it but the magnet of a bubble jig doesn't stick well to it.
I have a Riverside one as well but it broke.
Uncle Al was quick to answer my mail but haven't heared from him since I told him I'm in Europe apparantly his warranty is US only
