Greetings!

Although I have never posted here, I have been reading the boards on and off for months. I have a patent pending invention that resembles a pocket knife. We have completed preliminary engineering and have made 3D drawings in ProE. I would like to hire a consulting engineer to work on the team.

This is my first attempt to locate an experienced pocket knife engineer. If this post is somehow inappropriate, my apologies in advance. I know that strangers posting on boards can sometimes step on their own toes and I don't want to do that.

We are planning an initial run of 10,000 to 25,000 of these tools, depending on manufacturing costs. Our initial tool does not have a blade, but does have a scissor-cutter. It also has two implements that have never been made before including a very unique slicer.

If you have any interest, or advice regarding our project, please contact me. My name is Steve Strasheim and I can be reached via email at stevestras@excite.com.

Thanks.

Welcome to Bladeforums! I'll move this thread to Shop Talk for you; that's where the knifemakers are.

OK folks, we'll try one more time before going to plan B. Anyone with experience with folding knifes want to part of an exciting cigar tool project? Specifically, we need help with the following:

1. Material specification for spring blades and coil springs.
2. Cutter material and toughness specifications.
3. Heat treating process design.
4. Overall product durability assessment.

Since folding knifes use the same mechanics as our product, I would like to find somebody who has looked at these things before. If you could offer any advice, it would be most welcome.

Contact at stevestras@excite.com.

Thanks.
