i know there's way too many threads like this and i apologize, but i'm at a little bit of a loss, here.

i carry a Benchmade Nimravus. i showed it to my brother in law, in a foreign country, and he loves it. he doesn't know that much about knives, so he's not brand picky.

i need something of similiar size and function. it has to be American made. i'm trying to stay around 50bux. he's not getting a Nim :(

ideas?

ETA - i'm only concerned with the knife. i don't care what kind of sheath it comes with or if it comes with one, at all.

While not the same size, how about a Izula? Alternatively, you could get him a traditional Ka-bar.

Maybe a Buck Nighthawk. Both have similar blade shapes, black coating, around your price point and American made

Maybe consider something different from the NIM. Start him off with a proper folding knife for $50? Maybe even a SAK.

Consider any of these (doable at "street" price on the sales corner of the bay):

One of the KaBar Impact series would probably be the best fit

thanx for the ideas, folks. i think i'm gonna go a little over budget (happens with knives). that Ka Bar is about dead on, but i'm starting to lean towards a Griptilian. a little shorter than my Nim, but similiar in function.

nah, no folders. all things considered, he needs a concealable fixed blade.
