Without the pommel plate, are we sure that handle will stay in place from repeated blows? It makes me cringe thinking of that hatchet flying out of its handle.
+2 - wrapped hemp cord soaked in epoxy is super grippy too.Paracord wrap then epoxy soak.
Yeah if I were putting wood on it I'd either keep the pommel plate if boring out a solid block, or if doing a split setup like shown I'd want to drill though the tang and put at least one bolt, rivet, or other handle fastener through it.Without the pommel plate, are we sure that handle will stay in place from repeated blows? I’d feel better with that too. One or two rivets or pins would be an easy addition. That'll workHi, I ts been a while but procrastination is the way I work unfortunately, but here is the handle I came up with,![]()
The first knife I ever made had a similar handle, but I used jute twine and cyanoacrylate. Epoxy and hemp seems like it would be a better choice.+2 - wrapped hemp cord soaked in epoxy is super grippy too.![]()
