Need help 1934 axe ID!

Hey guys just picked this up today. It's a Connecticut pattern stamped 34 on the bottom of the pole. 3 1/2 on the left cheek and there's is a large V on the same left side. I can't find any info on this marking. Any help would be appreciated!
