Hey guys
I am in the market for a inexpensive fixed blade and wanted to get some input. I have around $40 to $60 bucks to throw down and wondered which route you would go. It would mainly be for day hikes, maybe a few over night trips but nothing to serious. I am looking at the moras, the condors, I also like the boker magnum line up, or what about a sog field pup 1. Not sure what route to go here and wanted to get some input or even see if there are other brands I should consider in my price range.

Thank you in advance for all the help.

Skip the Magnum lineup and check out the boker plus line. Better steel and you could pick up a nice knife for pretty close in price. For the money, though, Condor makes the best imho. The Bushlore is a great, inexpensive, and tough mid sized knife. Need smaller, Mini Bushlore. Bigger, Hudson Bay.

Won't ever lose with a Mora either. I'd buy one regardless of what else you buy as a great all around knife. Everyone should have at least one.

I would go with an ESEE Izula. You also might be able to find an Izula 2 used on the exchange for your budget.

I just ordered a TOPS Blue otter its around 65 bones. Its a great looking knife with a slight re-curve blade that should be great for all around cutting tasks. I also like the Izula, but a carbon steel Mora cannot be beat in the value department .

I always will recommend my Mora 2000. It's light, comfortable, has a really useful blade size (AWESOME at spreading peanut butter) and is reasonably priced.

Moras are really really nice for being really cheap (really!). I like mine. To be honest, unless you need something specific, condor and all the other companies don't offer anything more for the money.
Plus you can find a lot of custom kydex for the moras if you're into that.

Well guys I ended up getting a izulu II off the site. And I think iam going to get the mora as a back up blade.
Thanks for all the help.

Moras are awesome for the price you pay and inexpensive enough you can get several to keep in the truck or in kits. I like to pair them with larger chopper type blades so all your tasks are covered. Add a SAK or multitool and you're pretty well set.

How about a Kabar or Ontario? Many can be had for $40 - $60.

Boker Plus Bushcraft knife is a lot of knife for the money. You'll probably have to sort out the uneven plunge lines and convex the edge, but once that's sorted it's a great knife. I had about 10kg of bandsawed deer leg steaks where the bones had to be split to get at the marrow. I used a hide hammer to split/cut the bones. It did the job admirably, two extremely small dinks in the blade barely visible with the naked eye, you had to catch them in the reflection to see them. You also get a compass & firesteel in a tactical kubotan handle.

Cold steel Finn Bear is very inexpensive and a great knife. Lightweight too.

The Svord Kiwi General Outdoors is my nexy purchase. 30 dollars
