How it goin' guys,

I sharpen knives and got a chance to use a rodent 6 from a friend.
I was awe struck.

I have to have a swamp rat now! haha

I need help choosing a Ratmandu.

I've used the sr101 steel and was blown away, its taken the keensest edge of any knife with zero effort.

Then I found out about infi steel.

Does it take a keener edge? Or is it just tougher with more corrison resistance?

Also I can't find a good comparison between muddy and desert sage blade coatings.

Pics would be great. I'm trying to match up an all coyote tan look with matching kydex.

Thanks for your help

I have both and my humble opinion is the sr101 takes a slightly better edge. Both sharpened on my wsko ed. The infi holds the edge a little longer and has better corrosion resistance. Either one would be a great user which mine are. The coating will wear on the sr101 which will result in a little more blade maintenance down the road but you could always send it back in for re-coating. Both of them are more the thought enough for most jobs.

The price difference is not that much either. Unfortunately I can't post a comparison pic as my infi is orange g10 handles and my ratmandu is black on black.

If I had to make a choice and only have one I would probably take the infi just for it's corrosion resistance.

hope this helps and again it is only my 2 cents.

Keep an eye on the Exchange DeadboxHero, some really cool things should be popping up at the end of Blade.
If I were in the market I'd snatch up one of the INFIdu's or a SWATManDu. :D

Good luck!!!

Sage and Muddy are my two favorite coatings. The tint is pretty close to real-world color in these pics

Muddy on tan canvas micarta

Sage on black G10

I'm not a fan of the Swatmandu...
As far as choosing, check the thread a couple down from this one - "I think this is how it happens".
For a user, I think I prefer the canvas micarta; though I've used the paper micarta more, with no complaints. I have no issue with G10 handles...but I haven't been able to bring myself to use my G10 RMDs.

Having used both INFI and SR101 I will choose SR101 every single time. I prefer edge retention over corrosion resistance also SR101 takes a much keener edge which is something I value.

The CG RMD is one of the best values in production knives however I think the INFI version losses a lot of that value and I would take many customs over an INFI version.

I will take my Sage blade and black canvas rapped in leather from Armorall over any other RMD.

Id pick SR101 as well.

The RMD CG is excellent. But i would take my drop point brotherhood blade over any other RMD.... I really do prefer drop points. If i could talk a certain someone into sending back the original drop point RMD with bone handles id take that and just have brotherhood engraved on to it..... I sold it a while back because it was just way too pretty to use. But i have since gotten over using pretty knives, i will use the hell out of a gorgeous blade now as long as the ergos are on point!

Also... All this talk about corrosion resistance.. 1 word. Eezox. You're welcome :D

Nice, thanks for the info guys!

I ordered a RMD CG from the swamp rat site

Should be here in 4-14 weeks

Thx
