I've been looking at carrying a backup emergency neck knife to attach to my vest under my uniform (police officer) I've narrowed it down to the Emerson La Griffe, Buck Mayo Kaala, Bud Nealy spearpoint or similar knifes. I also havent ruled out a boot knife such as the Boker Applegate (smaller one), S&W HRT, or falkniven G2 but I don't know how comfortable they would be to wear all day inside a boot.

I carry a Ritter RSK benchmade as my primary knife in my sap pocket along with a Swisstool RS on my belt

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

AJ

I'm a criminal investigator, and a Benchmade Snody 210TK is what I carry around my neck every single day:

Emergency for what? For self defense, I'd go for the la griffe or a hideaway knife.

For Patrol work, a HAK or La Griffe behind your ammo pouches would work well. When I was in plainclothes, a HAK behind my neck-badge worked well, too. In regular Investigations or now, Admin., a HAK or something similar works great, too.

In the past, I've tried the B/M 210, Ranger Little Bird, Buck Hartsook, & a bunch of others I can't remember, lol. The 3 best that I liked (Just me, not necessarily anyone else), are the HAK, La Griffe, & SPOT.

Good luck with whatever you get.

1. The HAK system is excellent as a self-defense mechanism and also has its place as a utilitarian device as well.

2. I do not, however, recommend the Smith & Wesson HRT boot knife mentioned in the original posting...a Star Scout in my troop purchased one at the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot. It is not very functional...thick Tanto-style grind, relatively heavy, very marginal leather sheath. If you're into boot knives, purchase that Fallkniven G2---all the reports I've read on it and all of Fallkniven's products have been very favorable.

3. I have a Buck Hartsook and it is an excellent little neck knife. Extremely light in weight, with a good cutting edge of CPM S30V steel treated by a process designed by Paul Bos. The thermoplastic sheath that comes with it retains the knife well and can fit standard black-coated ball chain. I highly recommend one of these.

4. I have been thinking of purchasing a 210 Activator, and have handled one several times in a local outfitter (Fin, Feather, & Fur in Ashland, if any of you are nearby...). It is very ergonomic, very comfortable, and seems very utilitarian.

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

I have been carring a cold steel culloden as a neck knife for about 10 years now and I like it alot. It is the 3.5 inch blade with over all length at 7 inches. It came on a heavy duty dog tag chain. It was and still is a daily item that I wear. When I worked in the Philippines and Thailand It saved my butt more than once. My regular pocket blade is a cold steel recon 1. Both blades have put up with years of hard use and have never failed.

Emerson LaGriffe is simply awesome and hides so easy. Tiger Knapp by Blind Horse Knives is great and afforable at 20.00

Just say NO to Cold Steal!

My vote is for a Tom Krein Dogfish; either midtech or custom. Either way, you'll have a great knife and not be out much moolah. Plus, there's a friggin bottle opener built into the handle. Comes in very handy, if you happen to get attacked by a Corona. ;) :)

When I used to work as an EMT, I used to carry a Gerber gaurdian boot knife and that worked out well, except for the few times I either did too much moving and it wiggled loose or forgot that I had it on and exposed it .

A lot of necker threads of late :D

Personally i am pumped for the RAT IZULA, but it's not out yet.

I think the Blind Horse, Tiger Knapp looks pretty solid.
