Honestly, I wont say anything is overpriced, most things are priced what the market will bear. If he can ask what he does, and get it, then he is good to go. Not my place to criticize what he thinks or knows his work is worth, that goes for anyone in the craft. I do however think that some of our makers work is WAY under priced, it may be their own sense of the value of their work or a perceived market competitive value.
I always try to say to buy what you like the looks of, and how you like the maker. His or Her attitude and etiquette do cause me to look at their work with a more critical eye.
