My first Busse kin was a standard CG Regulator a few months ago when I became afflicted with this disease after watching some Jason wannabe in a hockey mask on you tube beat a SYKW through a piece of pipe. I was hooked and had to have a knife that tough. I have since then determined I do not like choils and purchased a Regulator LE (thanks High Desert). Now I have both models and feel the CG version has a different grind, feels heavier and with a slightly different tip. Question is, as I know nothing about grinds or blade geometry only what I can see, (where is Last Visible Canary when you need him) is there a differnce between the CG & LE model other than coating? Is one any better than the other as this is my SHTF knife and will serve as my chopper and wood processor for which I don't want to us my CABS for?

That's a nice pair of regulators you have. I have owned 3 versions of the regulator and decided to keep the De Regulator user I recently purchased. This knife had the most use but it felt right in my hand. I thought I would keep an LE because I usually don't like coated blades and prefer the LE's full flat grind. I almost made your LE a deregulator but thought someone else could. It also seems that the point on the cg coming off the saber grind is a little more wicked? Either knife is the right answer.

Keep the LE, and send the other to my PO Box :)

I will take good care of it for you. Promise.

Original Test Team Regulator

It has never been stated (to my knowledge) the specs of the LE and Proto Regs but my guess is they are the same as the Test Team Regulator. I prefer the Full Flat grind and the Differentially Hardening.

It was a Scrap Yard Scrapper 6.

I had all the regulators at one time. I decided to keep my green/sage test team and my 6.5" green camo. I prefer the full height flat grind to a saber grind. And while I normally prefer satin blades, SR-101 just rusts too easily here in Kentucky so coated works better for me.

Neither have been used though, I always reach for my ASH-1 instead.
