Need help designing a sheath, what's feasable?

I have 2 knives, a hunter style, approximately 5-6" blade length, and then a small EDC style companion knife, approx. 2-3" blade length.

I would like to make a sheath for each, however I'd like the companion knife sheath to be able to some how buckle , strap on...something to that effect, onto the main knife sheath.

Would a kydex sheath be a better route than leather? What thickness of leather would I need if I went that route? I have 3/16" veg tanned leather.

So far I was thinking of doing the layered sheath (hmmm, maybe a folded sheath? see...I don't know.) for the main sheath. Then some how incorporate a small belt around the bottom 1/3rd portion of the sheath, for the companion sheath to be able to attach with.

And I might be a little over zealous with this next idea, but I'd also like to incorporate a fire steel loop on the main sheath.

Any design ideas, suggestions etc will be taken as gold...because I'm lost with this one.

Brother,

Spokane? I am an hour and a half north of you, above Colville.

I work with kydex, and you can do all of it with kydex.

You can bolt one sheath onto another one, and bolt a FireSteel Loop to whichever you like. And, since they are bolted together, you could separate them later, if you wanted.

I am working on one like that right now for a guy.

Best,
Marion
