Need help figuring out maker of old db made in Bangor Maine please?

Hey fellas. Just got this wonderful new double bit today! Someone hammered on the part of the cheek where the name was but thankfully i can still make it that it says Bangor Maine. I think i see the letters p&e but i know its not a peavey because they are out of Brewer Maine. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This last photo i love because you can clearly see how they added the high carbon steel bit to the soft steel body. Awesome! Thanks again for any suggestions!

Oh and in case anyone is curious it measures 8-3/4" and each bit is 3-7/8". It weighs #3-5.7oz. I just made this diagram of the words and letters i can see. I was hoping someone might have a similar stamped axe and recognize the layout. Thanks again guys, the other letters are just missing and even though I've been combing through the available sources i just can't find a match.

Not sure who made that one but Peavey started in Bangor then Brewer and then Oakland.
