ok so im in the market for a new knife and i would like to try a new brand. For the most part i have always been a kershaw fan bt i havnt been very happy with the last couple knives ive got from them.
I also have 3 CRKT knives and i have been very happy with them, the Ripple (aluminium version) and the Shenanigan (i have the plastic handle as well as the aluminium)

What i want is a flipper knife that is NOT assisted by a spring, both of the CRKT knives open very easily and smoothly without being assisted opening. where as the kersha flippers ive gotten (Nura 3.5 4035TIKVT and the Swerve Manual 3850BLK) both require a wrist flick in addition to the flipper to fully lock open, even with the privet screw as loose as possible, the Nura even has Kershaw’s KVT ball-bearing system which should allow it to lock open by sing the flipper only. I can get it to lock open some of the time by giving it a really solid puch on the flipper. The crkt knives on the other hand always lock open even with a fairly light push on the flipper and the shenanigan doesnt even have ball bearings (the ripple does) and i dont have to loosen the privet screw to get them to work properly

The other main thing i want is a liner lock, i am possibly open to other systems except for the frame lock. I have never liked any knife that has a frame lock. i dont like the look of them and i find they are too had to engage since they are the same height as the frame on the opposite side and take much more force to push over to close the blade compared to liner locks

so here is a list of my wants
->flipper (without a spring assist)
->Liner lock (but as i said im open to other systems except for the frame lock, as long as i can easily close it with one hand)
->Plain non-serated knife between 3" and 3.75". i do not like Tanto blades
->no thumb stud...This isn't a deal breaker as it can usually be removed I just prefer no thumb stud but i can tolerate one that is up against the handles (like the ones that use it as a blade stop) I just dont want one that will get in the way when cutting.
->Tip down or a multi-position pocket clip (not a deal breaker)
->Actual selling price of around $100 or less (i say actual selling price as ive seen knives that sell for half the MRSP) I might be willing to go a little higher if i really like the knife
->One hand open and close

I thank you for your time and help, i just have no clue what other knife companies i should look at. with so many companies and just an uncountable number of different knives to look through its just a little overwhelming

im not sure if it will help but here is a list of knives ive owned that i really like
CRKT Ripple K415KXP (ALUMINIUM HANDLE)
CRKT Shenanigan K470KKP (ALUMINIUM HANDLE)
CRKT Shenanigan K480KKP (PLASTIC HANDLE)
Kershaw R.A.M. (not sure of the model numbers but i liked all the plain edged versions)

Thanks again

The Benchmade 300 family sounds like something you might like. I like the 300-1 which has blue/black G-10.

Mine flips easily.

Also, it's possible to de-assist any knife if that's you're only complaint about it.

well usually on the assist knives ive done that too they need a wrist flick also get get the blade to lock open. i think its because they arent designed to flip without the spring so they didnt need to make it super smooth to open without the spring.

Kershaw chill, flips great once you get used to it.
I personally found it to be to thin and to light... Very cheap to but the steel hold up well

Kershaw Junkyard Dog II, bigger decent knife (if you like the shape) with composite blade D2/14C28N, only tip down carry ;)

Hmmm.. Most flippers are assisted and/or frame lock. I say get a Zero Tolerance 0350 and de-assist it. Guys do it all the time with great results. Do a search here on the forum. You'll find a lot on it. You can find em for $100 and they are some of the most durable liner locks out there.

I agree on the BM 300 series.

Also, take a look at the Boker Plus Urban Trapper. Similiar in size to a Benchmade 940/943, but a flipper and frame lock, vg10 steel iirc.

The Schrade 501 sounds like it would meet all of your criteria. I just got one and really like it.

Everything you put in your wants list perfectly describes a Kershaw skyline. Pull the trigger on one! They're awesome and come in a variety of configurations all for under 100$ good luck!

I'm new to knives and I have two Skylines already. Slim in the pocket and not expensive. More of a G10 gentleman's folder, really. The flipper needs a bit of wrist action to open usually.
