Need help finding out about a knife I have.

I'm a newbie here and I have a knife I'm researching for a friend of mine. He was told it dates back to 1890-1930, but there isn't much for markings on it. He thinks it says Foxline Aux or something on it but it's hard to tell. It is made of some type of horn and has the pull-ring lock-back lever on it. He would like to know the history of the knife and was told it may have been used by sailors during the time period mentioned. I have a picture of it but it hasn't been much help so far. If anyone can give me some ideas of how to go about researching it or would tell me how to get the picture of it up so people can see what I'm talking about it would be helpful.

sounds like it could be one of the old spanish, or french clasp type knives. A pic would be a big help. Okapi still makes these type of knives.

The best place to post requests for identification is The Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification Forum.

You will have a problem posting a picture. I don't know if Basic members can post pictures, and without one, it is hard to describe a knife fully enough for an ID.
