I got a family friend who has asked me to find him a knife.. he has one very odd request though.. Pins? "I dont want none of them stupid screws in my knife, all they do is get lose and fall apart." As odd as that sounds to me i guess it can make sense even though that is unlikly that they will just fall apart. His money.. so ill stick to that requirement. Im not sure what he is thinking price wise i only talked to him on the phone for a few minutes. Any one know of any ill say for now since i cant see him buying something cheap but i cant see him spending a ton we will say the 40-100$ range full sized (3-4 inch blade i guess?) pinned construction knife, no screws.

Spyderco makes a few that are pinned with the exception of the pivot. The original Spyderco Persian is all pinned but is well over $100 if you can find one.

I'd get him a spyderco native frn....it's fully pined and has S30V the run around $70.

The Spyderco Salt line was entirely pinned until approximately last October. I think there are some other models, like the FRN Native.

I have a PE Pacific Salt that is entirely pinned. I'm not sure, but it may be possible that the entire Endura 3/Delica 3 line was pinned, too.

I think at this point you'd have to buy one secondary market to be sure it will be entirely pinned.

You could always look for a knife with no exposed hardware! The Stainless Endura doesn't have a single visible screw or visible part on the outside of it.

yea, no exposed hardware, same difference, he is just scared to death he will lose screws or maybe he cant resist taking stuff with screws apart.

How can any of you offer recommendations when the OP hasn't even stated whether this request is for a folder or fixed knife? What kind of use?

Aren't all you you just assuming?

These are the stongest pinned knives I've ever seen. I have a 7 yo Salt 1 that I use daily in my landscape work. It has held up well. It is as "tight" as the day I got it.

Id have to buy off the bay or exchange tho cause they arent pinned anymore.

For folders: Spyderco Endura or Delica with SS handle, Buck 110 or any classic folder model.

If it was for me i wouldnt care if it was torx, i like to take stuff apart to clean, but its not for me so it doesnt matter and im not paying for it so im not going to tell him to get something with screws then say okay rip it apart and loctite it.

wow, this post reminded me of my dream last night. one of those dreams you don't remember you had until something jogs your memory.

someone gave me a yellow handled salt, only it had a really weird blade shape, and I was in some deserted town either trying to find people in some school, or trying not to be found by people by hiding in some school.. haha

anyways carry on.
