Hello all,

I am having a lot of trouble finding a Torx set small enough to handle pocket clips. I have tried Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart and Ames. Where can I find a small set of Torx Tools? Is there a specific field that uses Torx in sizez smaller than 10? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I found mine at a home depot. I really had to look for a set that had smaller sizes though. Benchmade makes a set that you can usually find at knife stores. You might also want to check Sears and perhaps Radio Shack.

Any place that sells stuff for computers and computer repair should have them cheap. I got the kind that has 10 sizes in the nested fold-out style for 3 bucks. Don't remember where, but I have never had a problem using them on any of my clip or knife screws.

Sears sells them individually for about $2 each. Carry the knife in and test for the right size.

The Discovery Store also sells one of those folding pliers tool sets like the Gerber Multi-Plier and the set of tools that comes with it includes a number of different bits, including several Torx bits. It is a bit on the heavy side for a belt kit and a bit bid as well, but it is rather complete.

I bought mine at Sears. Its been a year or two ago, but I imagine they still have them.

I really like the concept behind the BM Torx kit that I purchased, though am a bit disappointed with the quality of the steel. Stripped one of the torx heads when attempting to take the scales off of my 942 Osborne.

Knew the metal was soft, when I could grind the stripped portion down to a nub with a ceramic sharpener in no time at all.

I am going to look for a decent set of torx drivers, or at least the one size I use the most.

Sears ones are JUNK...bend too easily...however you can take them back and get another one for free when they bend.....
the very BEST ones are the ones from http://www.halpertitanium.com/
and tell them I sent you!!!!!! :):):)
they arent cheap but they LAST!!
(buy the best the first time.....its a LOT cheaper in the long run!)

Hey Tom, would you please check the link for me, that one is returning an error mss, thanks.

I bought a set of Torx driver bits off of ebay for $4.
It has sized 5-10.
I dont know what it is, but either the metal or the heat treat is so much better than the $4 a piece drivers I bought at the hardware store.
The ones from the hardware store were too brittle, which is a problem for little sizes, but these have held up well so far.
You may want to try a search on torx drivers or bits on ebay.

Gents,
Colinz hit the nail on the head. Wiha makes some excellent quality tools. In fact, it appears as though the ones on the Halpern site are Wiha tools as well. Perhaps Tom could confirm for us. No doubt he uses torx wrenches more in one day than most of us do in a year.

oooooopppppppssssssss..left off the n!
Yes I think youre right about that.....I really like em..although I have broken a couple...the tips are hard and will snap off if used with excessive force....but havent done that lately. they really last a long time.....but for an occasional screw the sears ones are fine, and like I said...if they twist (opps...when they twist) you can take them back and get a brand new one.....

I got some very good quality torx drivers at Frys, an electronics store here. If you find a serious electronics store that deals in a lot of parts they should have quality torx in smaller sizes.

Sears part number 945736, Craftsman 12-piece Micro-tech Precision Screwdriver Set sells for about $20 and contains T6-T9, as well as assorted slotted and phillips.

Has worked fine for me several times.

Thanks for all of the sugestions. I went to Sears last night and picked up the ones I needed. I think they will hold up fine as I am not going to use them often. Thanks again for all of your help. Man, I love this place!
