Hey guys, I have a question. I have a little problem. I have a pair of kamagong sticks. However, one of them is now cracked on the end, courtesy of my nephew hitting it on the pavement repeatedly. So now my sticks no longer match. I was wondering where I can go to have the ends sawed off? I live in an apartment, so I don't have any saws or any other power tools. Do you think that they'll do it at Home Depot? What other places would do this kind of thing? Thanks for the help

Is there any way that you could tactfully approach the kid's parents about replacing the sticks? As for salvaging the existing sticks, I'd find a local wood worker rather than going to Home Depot to have it done. Although you may find that there are some wood workers working at Home Depot. A wood worker will cost more, but I think it would be worth it.

Best of luck!

Dave.

P.S. How did your nephew get the sticks to begin with, let alone long enough to hit the pavement repeatedly?

hey, we're kinda in the same boat...i have a 28" kamagong from Kris Cutlery and i want to cut it down to 18 or 20" for closer work and easier carry....i think Home Depot or one of those hardware centers would do it for you...just make sure to tell them to really rev their saw, you want a lot of rpms and let them know it's a serious hardwood. i'm gonna try to get mine done today; gonna make sure it's an employee who knows his stuff.

Dave it's ok with the kamagong sticks. I'm not too mad with my nephew, boys will be boys, you know. I talked to him about it already so I doubt that there will be any problems in the futures with taking my stuff without asking. Actually this episode may turn out to be a boon. I recently acquired a 2nd pair of kamagong sticks, 30" long. And I'm only going to shorten one stick. That way I have a pair for two stick drills, and a 28" and maybe 20" for solo baston. That should work out pretty well since I have a 20" HI Kumar Kobra coming soon. Broken Arrow said that the Kobra balances like a good kamagong stick. So now I'll have a safer way to get used to the dynamics of the Kobra without actually having to use it until I become more comfortable with it,

No matters who cuts the stick for you, please wrap the area that your gonna cut with tape-the reason is that it will cut smooth no splinters or chips-if I get a stick like that with splinters or chips I go crazy-guess I'm just like that, and shows pride in your weapons-hate to train or use with a chunk missing outta of it.Thanks for your time Nightwing

I just got my sticks cut from Home Depot yesterday. Kelt34, they cut it for free. Nightwing is right though, you should wrap it with tape before you bring it somewhere to get it cut. The cuts were clean for the most part, although they there were some very small chips. I actually like them as I think that they add character to the stick. Also, if I ever get tired of them I can easily take them out by sanding and rounding out the ends.
