Need help ID a few axes

That reminds a bit of this mark (which I have yet to determine)


Is the eye oversized compared to a standard American axe? Stubai comes to mind just because they their name is stamped inside of "mountains".

If you scroll down to "S" there is mention of "S in a triangle" but that is translated from German so it might also read "S in the shape of a triangle"?

The stamp is unreadable but it reminds me of a Rhinelander pattern. The eye is also shaped like some of the German to Eastern European axes to accomodate Ash or another handle material.

Mind if I ask where you are posting from or where you acquired the axes?

Looks to be the British Ordinance mark signifying 'property of the Crown'. Usually though the Brits stamp all sorts of other information (maker, size, date etc) on gov't gear.

The Global Brand Database from the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) shows a match of that stamp was used by Spear & Jackson:

There were 6 pages of results on that Global Brand Database for the letter "S" as the brand for tools. That unknown stamp (pictured) that looks like an "S" with a bird's head (?) did not appear in the results.
