Hi--

I was in an antique store last weekend, and saw a nice small hatchet or handaxe. The tag said that it was hand forged in Seden or Switzerland (can't recall which it said), in the 1920's or 30's, and the only mark on it was a "G" inside a squared circle.

It was in nice condition, no rust or major dings, and I don't know how the shop owner could tell where or when it was made, but I wasn't sure if someone here might recognize the maker's mark. For the $27 asking price, I may have to go back and pick it up.

Okay--I bought it (I figured that for $24, a Swedish made small hatchet was a good deal). Here are some pics--the markings say "Made In Sweden" with a "G" inside a square over it. under the hammer on the bottom is a "1". Anybody know who made this or how old it is?

Are there any remnants of red epoxy in the eye? The older GB is Omnivikings link had some so it could be another clue.
