Need help identifying a 110 found at an Antique shop.

I stopped in an antique store today and found a couple knives that I liked. One was an older Italian Stiletto Switchblade and the other was a 2 dot 110 in great shape. It was only $20 so I couldn't pass it up. It's my first Buck over 5 years old so I'm happy to have added it to the collection. The thing is I'm a newb when it comes to models and such and I was wondering if anyone could help me identify which version and variation it is. If I had to guess I would say it's a 5th Version/6th Variation. I believe the inlay rivets are small as opposed to the large, but I don't know for sure. How much do these things go for usually? Is $20 a good deal? It's knife only so take that into consideration. Any info is greatly appreciated.

That is a two dot 110, those were made from 1974 to 1980.

Was I right about the variation? Is there a thread with the pictures of all the different versions and variations? I know there's a sticky of a thread with a datasheet, but it would be cool to have pictures next to the info.

Well worth the $20 you paid for it. If you want it cleaned up you have options. The first is return it to Buck for spa treatment. A great deal at the price.

I was thinking about sending it in. I need to look into it and figure out the pricing. I figured it was a great deal at $20...it was also just kinda cool finally finding a nice 110. Usually there's just a bunch of crappy knives, but this little shop had a cool collection. There were all kinds of knives too, but unfortunately I didn't know what they were so there could be other good ones out there.

Grisle, Nice 110... I love Antique stores... go back and buy more... But only buy what you like... ITE ...

I remember a Buck 110 like that from my childhood. Great price! They are going for $30 and up around here. It looks like it's in good shape.

I'm gonna go hunting today for some more old knives. I like the thickness and the corners on this knife. I'd love to find some even older ones.

Grisle, 6th variation is correct, those are the small headed inlay rivots. I'd pay $20 in a heartbeat for that one. I think I agree with edbeau about the spa treatment although I'd like to see her shined up with some never dull or flitz 1st, it might be ok without it. I know the slight bumps and nics that show up in digital photos may not be noticable to the naked eye. Nice pick up:thumbup:

Thanks Fritz! I've been meaning to pickup some flitz, but I keep skipping because of the online prices and shipping. Do any brick and mortars carry it in your area?

I personally like Never Dull by Eagle One. It is available at most chain parts stores. It comes in a can and is a treated "cotton" wadding. You just pull a piece off like cotton candy and a piece the size of a quarter will go a long way.

I bought mine at an Ace Hardware. There should be one in your area I would think.

Yes you got a good deal on the 110. (I know zippidy about Italian Stiletto Switchblades.)

Keep in mind that this 110 has 440C steel which is a fine steel, or should I say a classic steel, used in the best knives of that era.

I couldn't tell you too much about the Stiletto either, but I have a small collection of them. I won't be able to tell you the brand, steel, handle, or the year it was made, but I can tell you that I enjoy it and that's really all that matters. I'm gonna try to make it to Ace and pickup something to clean the knife with. I'll post some photos once it's done.
